Install and run the Sharkord server on Windows, from the runtime it needs to the firewall.
Sharkord runs on Windows as a single .exe that contains the server, the web client, and the media worker.
1. Install the Runtime
Sharkord needs the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64). Without it the server fails to start.
2. Download and Run
- Download
sharkord-windows-x64.exefrom GitHub Releases. - Open PowerShell or Command Prompt in the folder you downloaded it to.
- Run it:
.\sharkord-windows-x64.exeKeep the window open. Closing it stops the server.
Then open http://localhost:4991 in your browser.
Sharkord stores its data in %APPDATA%\sharkord. See Data Directory.
Windows Firewall will ask for permission on the first run. Allow it, or voice and video will not reach anyone outside this machine. Port 40000 needs to be open on both TCP and UDP.
Next Steps
Set up HTTPS. Without it, browsers block the microphone, webcam, and screen sharing.
